PACKAGING
The NILINI Hair color kit comes in a dark blue cardboard box with golden embossing on label. The product comes in an attractive box with all the labels and necessary instructions to follow.
It has the product sealed in 2 sachets of 20grams each. So the net weight of the product is 40grams. The brand suggests using the complete sachet once opened as it is not useful after 3hours. The product quantity, manufacturing & expiry dates are mentioned at the back of the box. Both the sachets come with a white label which carries a 48 HOURS PATCH TEST NOTE.
The powder is dark green in color and is not very coarse. You can smell the scent of Indigo and the aroma of its purity. The availability of the product is a major concern as it is OUT OF STOCK most of the times. So I grab the product while there is a site wide SALE going on and stock up on at least 3-4 boxes.
HOW TO APPLY THE HAIR COLOR
Shesha Ayurveda suggests and recommends doing a mandatory 48-hour patch test before application. The details of the patch test have been mentioned on their website and also in the leaflet along with Nilini hair color kit. I did not do any patch test and applied it directly as I have used henna and indigo previously. I will suggest you to do a PATCH TEST as ayurvedic ingredients also cause irritation at times.
Remove the powder from one sachet into the bowl and mix it with water to make a smooth consistency just like we make henna paste. Apply it all over your grey hairs. Leave it for 30mins to 1 hour and then wash your hair simply with normal water. Do not oil or use shampoo for the next 2-3 days.
FEW TIPS TO FOLLOW PRE & POST APPLICATION
- Before applying the hair color please take care that your hair is washed and is clean and no traces of oil. Please DON’T APPLY HAIR OIL prior to the hair color application.
- Use hand gloves compulsorily while applying otherwise you may get black stains on your hands.
- Mix the contents of the packet with water just 10 mins prior to application.
- Apply the paste on your grey hairs alone and leave it for a max of 1hour.
- Wash it off with plain water and don’t use shampoo for atleast 3-4 days.
- Towel dry your hair and don’t use any hair styling tools.
- Store the product always in cool dry place.
- Re-apply the hair color once in 20 – 30 days depending on new hair growth.
MY EXPERINCE WITH NILINI HAIR COLOR KIT
I started noticing grey hairs in my mid 30’s that is when I started using HENNA hair pack diligently and followed it up with Indigo hair pack as well.
