REVIEW : ESTEE LAUDER DOUBLE WEAR STAY IN PLACE FOUNDATION

I was always intrigued in buying an expensive foundation to see how different it performed from an affordable brand. Being a South Asian and a Woman of color, I decided to invest in ESTEE LAUDER DOUBLE WEAR FOUNDATION as it has a wide range of shades to choose from. Here is a detailed review with additional tips on how to apply the foundation.

I was initially matched to the shade Rich Ginger 5N1 . The formulation was working well on me but, the shade was a bit dark. I had invested in a wrong shade so I went ahead and picked up another shade which matched my skin tone perfectly. The shade is Toasty Toffee 4W2 which is a perfect match for me. This Shade is suitable for Medium complexions with warm & golden undertones.

MY REVIEW & THOUGHTS

PACKAGING

The packaging of this foundation looks classy & elegant as it comes in a beautiful luminous royal blue color cardboard box and a heavy glass bottle with a screw cap in golden. The shade is mentioned on the bottom side of the foundation bottle. It’s displayed on a golden sticker with your undertone details.

It however doesn’t come with a pump which gets messier at times. You will have to pour the foundation on a Metal palette or on the back of your hands before application.

My fix to this problem is attaching a pump which is available at any local MAKEUP store and then use it. It gets easier to dispense the product after fixing a PUMP To it. I have been using a PUMP from MAC COSMETICS.

COVERAGE & FINISH

The foundation consistency is not too liquidy nor not thick. The product needs to be quickly worked into your skin as it dries up too fast and it gets difficult to blend later. The coverage of this foundation is awesome as it covers all your blemishes and skin concerns in a whip!!!

I dint have the need to go with a concealer again to cover any spots. If you have hyperpigmentation, then do consider using an orange/Peach color corrector prior to applying foundation. The finish of this foundation is just so DREAMY and magical!!!

The foundation sets to a beautiful DEMI-MATTE and after like an hour your face sweats and the foundations looks a lot better with time. I have this foundation using both the Makeup Sponge and Brush to just check on how it applies and which works the best. The brush and the sponge application both were to the MARK.

The foundation is a buildable one and I love how versatile the foundation is as you get control on whether you want Full Matte coverage or Medium Luminous coverage. To achieve a luminous foundation look, you can always mix in a liquid highlighter for that GLOW!!!!

STAYING POWER

The foundation has a pretty good long lasting staying power and I was shocked at FIRST!!! It stayed put-together in an INDIAN WEDDING for straight 12hrs. The first 4-5 hours dint need a touch up and later due to the humidity and hot summer weather I had to blot up a bit post LUNCH with a plain TISSUE PAPER which had no transfer of the foundation!!!

An SPF 10 is inbuilt in the foundation which makes its versatile for summer wear. With SPF and anti-oxidants it helps to protect against UV rays and pollution. Usually SPF based foundations, leave a white cast but this foundation has no such issues. No greyness or weird flashback in pictures I could notice.

Overall, I love this foundation and it’s in my HOLYGRAIL MAKEUP STASH always. The foundation shade is just perfect and on point for my skin tone. I highly recommend this foundation for Oily /Combination skin folks. Dry skin beauties will have to stay away from buying this foundation or else mix it up with facial oil or a nourishing cream.

TIPS ON HOW TO APPLY THE FOUNDATION AND KEEP IT BUDGE PROOF

Applying a primer before the foundation is a PRO tip to any foundation application. With this foundation, choose a hydrating or a nourishing primer as the product will glide on to your skin smoothly.
The product sets quickly so apply in sections rather than dotting on complete face at once. If applied all at once, the foundation gets difficult to blend.
In hot summers, if you choose to apply this foundation for an EVENT or PARTY then, do go with a long lasting primer and a Loose Powder as it will hold your makeup in PLACE.
Finish your base makeup with a setting spray which will seal all of it and it won’t budge.
